Prairie Creek is located in quaint Slater, Iowa. Located 30 minutes from Iowa’s capital city, Des Moines and 15 minutes from Ames and Ankeny. With a small town feel, Slater has all the amenities needed with a united community feel. With a population of around fifteen hundred, Slater is home to Ballard School district, a 3A high school with a middle and elementary school.

Prairie Creek is near the the High Trestle Trail, one of Central Iowa’s biking highlights. It is also near four community parks and a short drive from Saylorville and Big Creek Lake.

The community boasts a historical feel with many long running traditions. Every December there is a Christmas Tree lighting on Main Street, Fourth of July is home to a huge town celebration and regular fire station breakfasts throughout the year.

You can find everything you need in Slater. With a grocery store, gas station, bars, a community pool, a bank, a library, a coffee shop, and a cute downtown with shops, you have all the amenities without the big town inconvenience.
